THE MARVEL OF THE KING IN EXILE

As Ciaran and monks placed the first poles of the church at Clonmacnoise, Dermot (prince in exile) came. Ciaran: “We are building a little church.” Dermot helped. Ciaran prophesied: “The kingdom will belong to Dermot by the same time tomorrow.”

„How can this be, as Tuathal rules and I am in exile?“ — “The ‘how’ is a matter for God.”

A pagan killed Tuathal. Dermot accepted as king next day. Ruled as Christian. Buried at Clonmacnoise. The church brought warring tribes to peace. Community lasted 1,000 years.

MODERN BARDS‘ ADVICE (Luke 15:18-19)

„Vater, ich habe gesündigt gegen den Himmel und vor dir; ich bin nicht mehr würdig, dein Sohn zu heißen! Mach mich wie einen deiner Tagelöhner!“

Trust God over chariots. Build little churches. Return in humility. See God in ordinary work. The kingdom belongs to the humble builder.
